01 · AI Assessments

Know what to do before you spend a dollar building.

Fixed scope, fixed price, fixed timeline. Four assessments — each one answers a different question.

01 — AI Readiness

Should we be doing AI at all, and if so, what do we build first?

A full current-state read of your data, stack, and team. Ranked opportunities. A recommended first build with scope, cost, and timeline — the document your future engineer picks up and runs with.

  • • Current-state assessment
  • • Ranked AI opportunities
  • • Recommended first build + scope
  • • Hire / build / buy recommendation
02 — Opportunity Evaluation

We have a specific AI idea. Is it actually worth building?

A focused feasibility and impact analysis for a single AI initiative. We stress-test the assumption, model the upside, and tell you whether the juice is worth the squeeze before you commit budget.

  • • Feasibility analysis
  • • Impact & risk scoring
  • • Build vs. buy vs. skip recommendation
  • • Vendor / tooling shortlist if applicable
03 — Enterprise Readiness

We’re scaling up. Is our infrastructure and team set up for AI at this size?

An audit of your data governance, infrastructure, and team structure against the demands of running AI in production. Gap analysis with a prioritized remediation plan.

  • • Data & infrastructure audit
  • • Governance & compliance gap analysis
  • • Team structure recommendations
  • • Prioritized remediation roadmap
04 — AI ROI Assessment

We’ve built something. How do we know if it’s actually working?

A quantitative review of an existing AI investment. We tie outputs to business outcomes, identify what’s leaking value, and produce a clear-eyed report on whether to double down, fix, or wind down.

  • • Business outcome mapping
  • • Value leakage analysis
  • • Performance benchmarking
  • • Double down / fix / wind down recommendation
02 · Automation Services

Plug-and-play automations for work that shouldn’t need a human.

03 · AI Consulting

You know what to build. You need the team to ship it.

Custom engagements. Pricing depends on scope — we won’t quote a number before we both understand what we’re building. The intro call gets us there.

Custom App & AI Development

End-to-end build, run by me, executed by my team.

I architect the solution, scope the work, and bring in vetted Torchstack engineers, designers, and data scientists who execute under my direct oversight. I stay your single point of contact — on every call, reviewing every deliverable, owning the outcome.

Recent example
[Toby Health] — Built a clinician-facing AI workflow tool from kickoff to launch, including data pipeline, model integration, and clinical-facing UI. Read the case study →
  • +Stack-agnostic: Python, Node, React/Next.js, AWS/GCP/Azure
  • +Weekly demos — you follow progress, not status reports
  • +I’m on every call — senior judgment, not “the team will get back to you”

Fractional CTO & Advisory

Senior technical judgment, on a small monthly footprint.

For founders with a team who need senior technical leadership to steer it — vendor evaluation, architecture review, hiring, due diligence, investor prep, AI roadmap. Typically 5–10 hrs/month. You get me directly, not a junior in a trenchcoat.

Best fit
Founders mid-build who’ve hired one or two engineers and need senior judgment to keep the work pointed at the business outcome — not a free-floating tech-debt project.
  • +Weekly or biweekly working sessions
  • +Async availability on a 1–2 day SLA
  • +Vendor & hire screening; technical interviews if needed
  • +Roadmap reviews ahead of board / investor meetings

04 · AI Application Development

You need an AI product built from the ground up. Purpose-built for your business.

No templates. No off-the-shelf stack. Every engagement starts from a blank page and ends with something your competitors can’t just buy.

AI Application Development

This is for teams who know what problem they’re solving, understand that no existing product solves it, and need someone to architect and build the thing from first principles. The scope, stack, and timeline are determined entirely by your situation — which means no two engagements look alike.

What it covers
  • Custom model development & fine-tuning
  • LLM integration & prompt engineering
  • Computer vision & multimodal systems
  • Predictive analytics & recommendation engines
  • Data pipelines & MLOps infrastructure
  • Full-stack product build (frontend + backend + AI)
How it works
  • Scoped during the intro call — no quote without understanding the problem
  • Architecture designed by me; execution by my vetted team
  • Weekly demos, not status reports
  • IP is yours at every stage, regardless of next steps
  • I stay on every call — you always have senior judgment in the room
Right fit if
  • The problem is real and the existing tools don’t solve it
  • You need a working system, not a proof-of-concept
  • You can commit 3–6 months and have budget to match
  • You want to own the output, not license it

Common questions

FAQ.

Do I have to do an Assessment before a build?
No. If you arrive with a clear, scoped problem and we both think a build is the right move, we can skip straight there. The Assessment exists for founders who don’t know yet what to build — it’s a yes when you need decision support, a no when you already have it.
What’s the difference between Automation Services and custom AI development?
Automations are specific, repeatable workflows we scope and deploy — lead scoring, onboarding sequences, research pipelines. Custom AI development is a full build: product architecture, engineering execution, and delivery. If you’re not sure which fits, describe the problem on the intro call and I’ll tell you.
What tech stacks do you work in?
Stack-agnostic. We pick what fits your stage and budget. Common ones: AI/ML (LLMs, computer vision, predictive analytics), Python, Node, React/Next.js, AWS/GCP/Azure, microservices, data infrastructure. If you have an existing stack, we work in it; if you don’t, we recommend one.
How fast can you start?
Assessments usually kick off within two weeks of the intro call. Automations and builds depend on scope and team availability. The intro call gives you a real estimate.
Who actually does the work?
Strategy and architecture: me, directly. Engineering execution: a vetted team of contractors I’ve worked with for years, scoped per project, working under my oversight. I’m on every call and review every deliverable. You always have a senior person, not a junior in a trenchcoat.
Will you sign an IP assignment / NDA?
Yes. Mutual NDAs on request. IP assignment is standard in our build agreements — whatever we build for you is yours.
